PWD prepares Rs 1,111 crore blueprint on CM Yogi’s instructions, to be executed under Central Road and Infrastructure Fund

Yogi govt set to boost state connectivity by constructing 10 new bridges under CRI Fund

Lucknow : Driven by the double-engine government’s commitment to world-class connectivity, Uttar Pradesh is fast advancing the vision of “Reform, Perform, and Transform.” While national highway projects progress under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, CM Yogi Adityanath is steering the state toward becoming an expressway powerhouse. In line with this, the Public Works Department has drawn up a comprehensive infrastructure blueprint, including 10 major bridge projects under “Setu Bandhan” and several roadworks to be executed with Rs 1,111 crore from the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund. The project includes construction of Rail Over Bridges (ROBs) and Rail Under Bridges (RUBs),

The Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation will oversee the construction and development of the 10 proposed ROBs and RUBs. Project selection is based on parameters like TUV and overall utility. TUV, an indicator of the average number of trains and vehicles crossing a level crossing daily, helps prioritize areas with high traffic density for bridge development, ensuring infrastructure meets both present and future needs.

Notably, at the end of the last financial year, the Government of India approved 10 bridge projects, each with an estimated cost exceeding Rs 50 crore. Construction is scheduled to begin in the current financial year, significantly enhancing connectivity and ensuring smoother traffic management throughout the state.

Furthermore, CRIF will also be utilised for road-related works, including the construction of bypasses, ring roads, service lanes alongside national highways, and the widening and strengthening of roads, especially those spanning 10 km or more. For these projects, the Yogi government has prepared an action plan for works worth Rs 136 crore, approved at the end of the last financial year. Land acquisition and utility shifting for these projects will be carried out by the state government itself.

This coordinated push for robust road and bridge infrastructure reflects the state government’s resolve to ensure faster, safer, and more efficient transportation in Uttar Pradesh.
