Directs Immediate Compensation for Affected Families

Raipur : Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade conducted a visit today to the elephant-affected villages of Ghaghtikra, Kalyanpur, Khuthenpara, and Kotbahara in the Latori region of Surajpur district. During her visit, she personally assessed the damage caused by wild elephants and held direct interactions with local residents to hear their grievances and concerns.

Reassuring the villagers, Minister Rajwade stated that the government stands firmly with them and will provide every possible assistance. She immediately contacted the concerned patwari (local revenue officer) by phone and instructed the prompt preparation of compensation cases to ensure swift financial support to affected families.

Smt. Rajwade emphasized that any loss due to natural calamities or wildlife interference will be taken seriously. She added, “Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, our government is committed to standing with every affected citizen with empathy and action.”

It is noteworthy that in recent days, herds of elephants have caused significant damage to paddy fields, crops, and several homes in different villages of Surajpur district, creating fear and insecurity among the rural population.

In response, the Minister has directed the concerned departments to increase night patrols, raise awareness among villagers, and conduct damage surveys at the earliest to ensure that appropriate compensation is delivered without delay.
