Rajasthan Police Gets New Leadership — IPS Rajeev Kumar Sharma Assumes Charge as Director General of Police
Jaipur : Rajasthan Police welcomed experienced and dedicated leadership on Thursday as senior IPS officer Shri Rajeev Kumar Sharma formally assumed the role of Director General of Police (DGP) of the state.
In a modest yet dignified ceremony held at the Police Headquarters in Jaipur, Sharma took charge from the outgoing DGP in the presence of senior police officials.
Upon his arrival at the Police Headquarters on Thursday evening, Shri Sharma was greeted by DGP Intelligence Shri Sanjay Agarwal and other senior officers. He was accorded a Guard of Honour by a contingent of police personnel. Sharma inspected the parade and was introduced to all the officers present. He then formally assumed office and interacted with members of the media. Sharma also held a brief internal meeting with senior police officials.
Present at the ceremony were several high-ranking officers, including DGPs Shri Sanjay Agarwal, Shri Anil Paliwal, Smt. Malini Agarwal, Shri Ashok Rathore, Shri Anand Srivastava; Additional DGPs Shri Vishal Bansal, Shri Bipin Kumar Pandey, Shri Sachin Mittal, Shri Dinesh MN; Jaipur Police Commissioner Shri Biju George Joseph, Shri V.K. Singh, Shri Sanjeev Narjari, Smt. Binita Thakur, Smt. Prashakha Mathur, Shri Hawa Singh Ghumaria, Shri B.L. Meena, Smt. Lata Manoj Kumar, among others.
A Veteran Police Officer:
Shri Rajeev Kumar Sharma is a 1990-batch IPS officer from the Rajasthan cadre with over 34 years of distinguished service. A native of Mathura, Sharma holds MA and MPhil degrees. He is highly regarded in police circles for his discipline, administrative acumen, and leadership skills.
In Rajasthan, he has held several key posts such as Superintendent of Police (SP), Inspector General (IG), Director of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Head of Law and Order, and Director of the Police Academy. At the central level, he has also contributed significantly through his roles in the CBI and Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D).
Sharma is a recipient of the President’s Police Medal and the prestigious DGP’s Disc Award. According to the Department of Personnel’s order, he has been appointed DGP for an initial term of two years.
