Several Innovations Introduced by Dairy, Cow Rearing, and Animal Husbandry Departments to Make Rajasthan a Leader in Milk Production: Joraram Kumawat
Secretaries of 48 Women’s Milk Committees from Rajasthan Participate in Training Camp Organized by National Commission for Women and RCDF
Jaipur : Animal Husbandry, Dairy, Cow Rearing and Devasthan Minister Shri Joraram Kumawat stated that while Rajasthan currently ranks second in the country in milk production, multiple innovations are being implemented by the Dairy, Cow Rearing, and Animal Husbandry departments to elevate the state to the number one position. Notably, artificial insemination using imported semen from Brazil for Gir cows is being conducted to significantly enhance milk production. This is expected to more than double the milk yield of Gir cows. In addition, the Sex-Sorted Semen Scheme has been introduced to increase the number of female calves, which will not only raise the cow population but also boost overall milk production in the state.
He was speaking at the inauguration of a three-day women’s training camp held at the Banas Dairy campus in Palanpur, Gujarat, jointly organized by the Rajasthan Cooperative Dairy Federation (RCDF) and the National Commission for Women.
Minister Kumawat shared that secretaries of 48 women’s milk producer committees from four district milk unions — Jaipur, Sikar, Bharatpur, and Tonk — will receive training during the camp. These women will be trained in effective management of milk committees, which will not only improve profitability but also enhance the operational skills of the women. He expressed the government’s commitment to extending such training opportunities to all women associated with milk committees in the future.
He further emphasized that the dairy sector has emerged as a powerful means to promote women’s self-reliance and stressed the need to increase women’s participation in dairy cooperative committees and unions.
Shri Kumawat also said that a spirit of healthy competition should be fostered among milk cooperatives and unions. For this, committees should engage with local farmers in every village and continuously improve their work. Dairy unions, he added, should develop better models to make the dairy sector more beneficial for farmers, and those performing well in this sector should be encouraged and recognized.
The Minister lauded Banas Dairy’s efforts in women empowerment and said that Rajasthan’s Saras Dairy is also doing commendable work in this area.
The inaugural session was also addressed by National Commission for Women Chairperson Smt. Vijaya Rahatkar, Speaker of Gujarat Assembly Shankarlal Chaudhary, and RCDF Managing Director Shruti Bhardwaj. Among other dignitaries present were Banas Dairy Vice Chairman Bhava Bhai Rabari, Chairman of Banas Medical College & Trust P.J. Chaudhary, Banas Dairy Managing Director Sangram Chaudhary, and Principal Private Secretary Ramavatar Singh.
