Urgent Repairs Needed for Pune-Nashik and Nashik-Mumbai Highways: Deputy CM Ajit Pawar Writes to UM Nitin Gadkari

Mumbai : The condition of the Pune–Nashik and Nashik–Mumbai National Highways has severely deteriorated, with large potholes appearing across several sections. These roads have become hazardous for commuters, resulting in a spike in road accidents. Taking note of the situation, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has written a letter to Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, requesting urgent repairs on both highways.

In his letter, Ajit Pawar emphasized that the Pune–Nashik Highway is crucial from an industrial, commercial, and passenger transport standpoint. He pointed out that many stretches of this route are plagued with deep potholes, causing significant vehicle damage and a rise in accidents. Citizens are facing loss of time, fuel, and enduring immense inconvenience.

He further expressed disappointment that despite regular toll collection on this route, no improvement has been seen in road quality or safety standards.

Regarding the Nashik–Mumbai Highway, Pawar highlighted the dangerous road conditions in the Kasara Ghat and Igatpuri areas, noting poor-quality diversions and incomplete bridge work, which also pose serious risks to traffic. He mentioned that serious accidents have occurred on this route too, and urged a detailed inspection followed by immediate repair orders.

Recognizing Nitin Gadkari’s efficiency and contributions to infrastructure development, Ajit Pawar expressed confidence in the Union Minister’s ability to ensure prompt repair and restoration of both highways through his intervention.
