Planned Rehabilitation of Tribal Families in Panvel and Uran Must Be Ensured – Tribal Development Minister Dr. Ashok Uike
Mumbai : Tribal Development Minister Dr. Ashok Uike has directed that the tribal families residing in the CIDCO jurisdiction of Panvel and Uran talukas be rehabilitated in a systematic and planned manner.
A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Uike to take policy decisions regarding the housing and resettlement of tribal families in the CIDCO development areas of Panvel and Uran. The meeting was attended by MLA Prashant Thakur, along with senior officials from the Tribal Development Department and CIDCO.
Dr. Uike stated that these tribal families have been living on land earmarked under CIDCO’s development plans for many years. It is essential for CIDCO to devise a suitable policy to rehabilitate these families. He emphasized that while carrying out the rehabilitation, all basic facilities such as water, electricity, roads, and sanitation must be ensured.
He also directed that a comprehensive survey be conducted within three months through joint coordination between the Revenue Department, Rural Development Department, and the Project Officer’s Office. Based on this survey, a detailed rehabilitation plan should be prepared. The Project Officer of Pen will serve as the nodal officer for the implementation of this task, he added.
