World Rose Convention 2028 an Unprecedented Opportunity for Global Dialogue and Hospitality: Governor

Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel said that the hosting of World Rose Convention 2028 in Bhopal is a historic and proud moment for India. This event is the result of India’s growing reputation at the global level. It is a step towards establishing India as a Vishwaguru (world leader).

Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel was addressing a meeting related to the 21st World Rose Convention 2028. On this occasion, he received the flag handed over to India in May 2025 by the World Federation of Rose Societies as host for 2028 event. The Governor received the flag as he is chief patron of Madhya Pradesh Rose Society. The convention will be held in Bhopal from January 7 to 13, 2028. The meeting was organized at the Sandipani Auditorium of Raj Bhavan by the Madhya Pradesh Rose Society under the aegis of Indian Rose Federation.

Governor Shri Patel said that receiving flag of the World Federation of Rose Societies is a moment of great pride for the country and state. This flag is a symbol of the grand responsibility of 2028 historic event and an unprecedented opportunity for global dialogue and hospitality.

Governor Shri Patel expressed gratitude to the World Federation of Rose Societies for entrusting India with the responsibility of hosting it for the first time. He honoured Shri Sushil Prakash for becoming the first Indian president of the World Federation of Rose Societies. He congratulated and extended best wishes to the Indian Rose Federation and Madhya Pradesh Rose Society for the event.

Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel said that hosting of the World Rose Convention 2028 in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh will give the state a unique identity at the global level. Hosting the event is a matter of joy and pride for the entire Madhya Pradesh and the city of Bhopal. Upon receiving information from the Rose Society about developing Bhopal as a Rose City for the event, Governor Shri Patel suggested initiating steps to double the current production of various rose species at Raj Bhavan.

Governor Shri Patel said that the rose is a symbol of spirituality and sanctity. It is a mark of affection and kindness. He said that all of us should resolve to carry out every task and responsibility related to the event with grandeur and divinity so that it becomes an inspiring and memorable experience for representatives from across the world. Governor Shri Patel also appealed to rose lovers of Madhya Pradesh and Bhopal to contribute to making the event a success.

In the meeting, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Culture, Tourism, Religious Trusts and Endowments, Shri Dharmendra Bhav Singh Lodhi said that the World Rose Convention 2028 will also help promote Madhya Pradesh tourism. The tourism department will also prepare a plan to give guests a tour of Madhya Pradesh. He expressed gratitude to the World Federation of Rose Societies for hosting this event in Madhya Pradesh.

Minister of State Shri Dharmendra Bhav Singh Lodhi was welcomed by Additional Chief Secretary of Higher Education, Horticulture and Food Processing Department, Shri Anupam Rajan. Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel was welcomed with a bouquet by Principal Secretary of Tourism and Culture Department Dr. Shivshekhar Shukla, who also gave an introductory address. In the meeting, President of the World Federation of Rose Societies, Shri Sushil Prakash gave a PowerPoint presentation based on the preparations and planning for the World Rose Convention 2028.
