Assembly Speaker Launches Book On Mizo Nationality

Aizawl : The Speaker of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly, Pu Lalbiakzama, officially launched the book titled “The Reflection of Mizo Nationality: with Special Reference to Hmar Culture”, authored by Pu Hmingchungnunga, at the Synod Conference Centre, Mission Veng, Aizawl.

Speaking at the book launch event, Pu Lalbiakzama expressed appreciation for the author, stating that the book’s deep exploration of ethnic identity and cultural values is highly commendable. He emphasized that in the global context, writing in one’s own language is essential to preserving and promoting national heritage, and this book stands as a significant step in understanding the Mizo identity through literature.

He noted that the effort to write a well-researched and well-structured book in a short span of time was admirable, and it reflects the author’s commitment to encouraging the younger generation to learn more about the history and culture of the Mizo people. The book, “The Reflection of Mizo Nationality: with Special Reference to Hmar Culture”, written in English, is also expected to serve as a valuable reference for others writing about similar topics. The Speaker expressed confidence that the book will help project the identity of the Mizo people to the world and serve as a unifying narrative.

The launch event was chaired by Pu JF Rothangliana, Chairman of the Global Mizo Council General Headquarters, with Dr. PC Biaksiama delivering a critical review of the book. Author Pu Hmingchungnunga also shared a few remarks. The program concluded with a vote of thanks from Pu Lalthangkunga Hmar.
