Tesla enters India officially; CM inaugurates Tesla Experience Center in Mumbai

Mumbai : Maharashtra will become the state with the highest electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing capacity in India, said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis while inaugurating Tesla’s first Experience Center in India, located in Mumbai.

Global electric vehicle giant Tesla has officially entered the Indian market, and the launch was marked by the opening of its first Experience Center in Mumbai. The inauguration was carried out by CM Fadnavis in the presence of Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik, the CM’s Special Executive Officer Kaustubh Dhavse, and representatives from Tesla.

CM Fadnavis expressed delight, saying, “This is a proud moment for Maharashtra, especially Mumbai, as the world’s smartest car is making its entry into India, starting from our state. Tesla has officially announced its debut in the Indian market through Maharashtra.”

The Tesla center in Mumbai is more than just an Experience Center—it also serves as a delivery hub, logistics center, and service unit. Bookings for Tesla vehicles have begun at this location. Tesla’s globally renowned Model Y was launched in India on this occasion. The car can be charged in just 15 minutes and offers a range of 600 km on a single charge. It is a zero-emission vehicle, and its safety features are considered among the best in the world, CM Fadnavis added.

He also highlighted Maharashtra’s proactive EV policy, stating that the state government has implemented a dynamic policy to promote electric vehicles, offering incentives for charging infrastructure, tax benefits, and special concessions for manufacturing. Maharashtra is poised to lead the nation in the EV industry in the coming years.

Following Mumbai, Tesla plans to expand its services to two more Indian cities. Additionally, four major charging hubs and 32 charging stations will soon be established in Mumbai, the Chief Minister announced.
