KTR Promises 24×7 Safe Drinking Water Supply to Every Hyderabad Household if BRS Returns to Power
Hyderabad, May 2026: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao on Monday promised that Hyderabad would receive uninterrupted 24-hour safe drinking water supply if the BRS returns to power in Telangana. Addressing party workers and local leaders during a cadre meeting in Kukatpally, KTR said the party would replicate its success in providing round-the-clock electricity by ensuring continuous drinking water access to every household in the state capital.
Recalling the situation before the formation of Telangana, KTR said the region had suffered for decades under Congress rule, with frequent power cuts and severe drinking water shortages affecting daily life. He noted that people across the region had regularly staged protests and agitations demanding basic amenities such as electricity and water during the undivided Andhra Pradesh era.
According to him, the formation of Telangana under the leadership of former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) brought a major transformation in infrastructure and public services. He highlighted that the BRS government successfully introduced uninterrupted 24-hour electricity supply across the state and implemented Mission Bhagiratha, a flagship drinking water scheme aimed at providing piped water connections to households in urban and rural areas.
KTR said the same commitment and administrative focus shown by KCR in resolving the electricity crisis would now be directed towards ensuring continuous drinking water supply in Hyderabad.
“The leader who delivered uninterrupted 24-hour electricity to Telangana is KCR, and the same KCR will ensure 24-hour drinking water supply to Hyderabad,” KTR declared while addressing party cadres. He further assured that he would personally oversee the implementation of the programme and ensure that the promise becomes a reality once the BRS regains power.
Launching a sharp attack on the Congress government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, KTR accused the ruling party of misleading people with what he described as unrealistic promises during the Assembly elections. He alleged that Congress had failed to fulfil assurances made to various sections of society, including promises related to pensions, financial assistance for women and welfare benefits.
The BRS leader claimed that despite being in office for nearly two-and-a-half years, the Congress government had failed to make any significant new investment in Hyderabad’s development. He alleged that the current administration was taking credit for projects initiated and completed during the previous BRS regime.
According to KTR, Congress leaders were merely inaugurating infrastructure projects such as flyovers, hospitals and public facilities that had already been constructed under the BRS government while portraying them as achievements of the present administration.
KTR also challenged the Congress government to prove that it had constructed even a single double-bedroom housing project in Hyderabad during its tenure. In a strongly worded remark, he said he would retire from politics if the government could establish that any new double-bedroom housing units had been built in the city under Congress rule.
The meeting in Kukatpally witnessed participation from party workers, local leaders and supporters, as the BRS intensified its political campaign against the ruling Congress government ahead of future electoral battles in Telangana.
