‘One District, One Product – 2024’ Awards: Maharashtra Wins Gold in Category A

New Delhi : Maharashtra has delivered an outstanding performance under the ‘One District, One Product (ODOP) 2024’ initiative, securing a Gold Medal in Category ‘A’. In addition to the state-level recognition, several districts including Ratnagiri, Nagpur, Amravati, Nashik, and Akola have also received awards for excellence in specific agricultural and non-agricultural products.

The National ODOP 2024 Awards ceremony was held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, with Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, and Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada presenting the awards. Maharashtra was recognized for the innovation, high standards, and unique quality of its products at the national level.

Maharashtra’s Golden Performance in ODOP The ODOP initiative, a flagship program of the central government, aims to boost local economies by promoting unique products from each district and enhancing their global market presence. At the 2024 awards, Maharashtra stood out across multiple categories, receiving accolades at the district and state levels. The awards were distributed among three groups: districts, states, and Indian embassies abroad. The embassies participated virtually. Along with Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh also secured Gold in Category A. The award was accepted on behalf of Maharashtra by Industries Development Commissioner Deependra Singh Kushwaha.

Agricultural Sector Achievements:

  • Ratnagiri’s Alphonso Mango Wins Gold: Known globally for its sweet taste and premium quality, the Alphonso mango from Ratnagiri topped the Agricultural Category A. District Collector M. Devendra Singh accepted the award.
  • Nagpur Oranges Bag Silver: Renowned for their juicy flavor and superior quality, the Nagpur oranges earned second place. The award was received by Vinayak Mahamuni, CEO of Nagpur Zilla Parishad.
  • Amravati’s Mandarin Oranges Win Bronze: Due to consistent production, quality, and excellent orchard management, Amravati received third place. Nilesh Nikam, GM of District Industries Centre, accepted the award.
  • Special Mention for Nashik Grapes and Raisins: Nashik was recognized with a Special Mention Award for its grapes and raisins, which have made a strong presence in the international market. District Collector Jalaj Sharma accepted the award.

Non-Agricultural Sector Achievement:

  • Akola Honored for Cotton Ginning and Pressing: Under Category B in the non-agricultural sector, Akola received a Special Mention Award for its progress in cotton processing and industrial development. The award was received by Santosh Bansod, GM of the District Industries Centre, Akola.

These awards affirm Maharashtra’s diverse excellence in promoting both agricultural and non-agricultural products and its commitment to boosting local industries through innovation and quality.
