Deputy CM Ajit Pawar Reviews Development Works in Baramati City
Calls for Proposals to Set Up Enclosures for Stray Animals
Baramati : Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister of the district, Ajit Pawar, conducted a comprehensive inspection of various ongoing and proposed development projects in Baramati city. During his visit, he directed the municipal council to take citizen complaints about stray animals and dogs seriously. He instructed that appropriate land in different parts of the city should be identified for animal enclosures and proposals should be submitted for the same.
During the inspection, Ajit Pawar reviewed development works at Shri Siddheshwar Temple premises, Dashkriya Ghat, and Sharada Prangan. He also examined the proposed four-lane road from Malavarachi Devi to Jalochi Chowk, the road from the Jalochi canal bridge leading to Sambhajinagar, the canal-side garden space, Dashkriya Ghat beside the Jalochi stream, cremation and burial grounds, two small bridges near Vidya Pratishthan in Rui, garden areas, the cremation ground, and the site for the proposed flood protection wall.
Reviewing these proposed sites, Mr. Pawar said that considering the city’s expanding limits, work must begin at the identified locations. He instructed the police to take strict action against anyone obstructing the projects. While widening the Rui-Jalochi stream, he said encroachments must be surveyed and removed. Flood protection walls should be constructed on both sides of the stream.
In the Sharada Prangan area, where CBSE and Marathi schools are being developed, he emphasized planning the infrastructure with the needs of students and teachers in mind. He also directed the setup of amenities like toilets, water supply, and electricity for devotees participating in the Palkhi pilgrimage.
Ajit Pawar suggested planting shade-giving trees in the Babuji Naik Wada and Dashkriya Ghat areas. He stressed that visitors attending funeral rites at Dashkriya Ghat should have access to all necessary facilities. Measures should be taken to prevent waterlogging, and essential renovations must be carried out at the memorial of poet Moropant. Tree plantation should be done near the riverbed while maintaining adequate distance from drain-hole chambers.
While acknowledging the various development works underway in Baramati, the Deputy CM stated that all future planning must consider the upcoming expansion and ensure the works are sustainable and require minimal maintenance over the next 100 years.
