Lord Shri Chandramouleshwar Seated in a Palaki and Shri Manmahesh On An Elephant Set Out On a City Procession in Ujjain To Bless Devotees

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav participated in the second traditional procession of Lord Mahakal during the holy month of Shravan on Monday. Lord Shri Mahakaleshwar appeared in a palki as Shri Chandramouleshwar and as Shri Manmahesh seated on an elephant, setting out on a city tour to bless devotees and inquire about the well-being of his people. The Chief Minister performed rituals and worshipped the palaki in the Sabha Mandap before the procession. The deity was worshipped with full Vedic rituals (Shodashopachar), followed by Aarti.

The grand procession of Lord Mahakal featured tribal dance performances by 8 tribal troupes, initiated by the Chief Minister. CM Dr. Yadav walked barefoot throughout the procession route, engaging in devotional singing and worship of Baba Mahakal. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla, Urban Development Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya, Minister-in-Charge Shri Gautam Tetwal, MLA Shri Anil Jain Kaluheda, Mayor Shri Mukesh Tatwal and Shri Sanjay Agrawal also joined the Prayers and Aarti.

CM Dr. Yadav Played Damru and Cymbals Throughout the Route

CM Dr. Yadav actively participated in the procession, playing the ‘damru and manjeera’ along the entire route. School students performed ghosh vadan (traditional trumpet playing) and chants of “Bhole Shambhu” and “Bholenath” echoed through the streets of Ujjain.

Ambulance Given Way by Devotees

During the procession, devotees made way on Dhaba Road and Kamari Marg to allow an ambulance carrying a patient to pass through. Throughout the route, devotees showered flowers while chanting “Jai Shri Mahakal.”

Guard of Honour to Lord Chandramouleshwar

As the palaki of Lord Chandramouleshwar reached the main entrance of the Mahakaleshwar Temple, an armed police contingent presented a Guard of Honour. Devotees welcomed the deity with chants of “Jai Shri Mahakal” and showered flowers on both Lord Chandramouleshwar in the Palaki  and Lord Manmahesh on the elephant.

Police Band Performance on CM’s Initiative

On the instructions of CM Dr. Yadav, a police band of 350 personnel performed devotional hymns like Namah Shivaya, Har Har Shambhu Deva Mahadeva, Om Jai Shiv Omkara, and others. Devotees were seen immersed in devotion, swaying to the music.

Massive Devotee Turnout to Witness Lord Mahakal

The entire city of Ujjain turned spiritual during the procession, with thousands of devotees playing traditional instruments and walking along with the Palaki . Pilgrims from outside Ujjain also thronged for a glimpse of Baba Mahakal. The procession passed through Gudri Chauraha, Bakshi Bazaar, Kaharwadi and reached Ramghat, where CM Dr. Yadav performed abhishek (ritual bathing) of Lord Chandramouleshwar with the holy waters of River Kshipra.

Vedic Chants and Devotional Music at Ramghat

On the other side of Ramghat, at Datt Akhada Ghat, Vedic chanting was conducted, and devotional songs dedicated to Lord Shiva were presented by artist Ms. Laxmi Talreja. The Palaki ’s arrival at Ramghat was marked with conch-blowing and aarti. CM Dr. Yadav offered prayers for the prosperity and development of the state.

The procession then moved through Ramanuj Kot, Modh Dharamshala, Kartik Chowk, Khati Temple, Satyanarayan Temple, Dhaba Road, Tanki Chauraha, Chhatri Chowk and reached Gopal Mandir. There, following tradition, a priest from the Scindia royal family performed the worship of Lord Chandramouleshwar. The procession finally returned to Mahakaleshwar Temple via Patni Bazaar and Gudri Chauraha, where it concluded with a final Aarti.

Eight Tribal Troupes Present Captivating Performances

To enhance the grandeur of the procession as envisioned by the Chief Minister, eight tribal cultural groups participated and presented mesmerizing performances using traditional instruments. The Nashik (Maharashtra) Saungi Mukhauta Nritya led by Shri Chhavildas Bhawali and the Haryanvi Ghoomar from Haryana led by Shri Ajay Kumar performed near the temple premises.

Other performances included Gair-Ghoomra from Rajasthan by Shri Khemraj’s group at Kot Mohalla, Baredi folk dance from Chhatarpur (M.P.) by Shri Ravi Ahirwar’s group, Bhagoria dance from Jhabua (M.P.) by Shri Ajju Sisodiya, Rath tribal dance from Gujarat by Shri Banesingh Bhai’s group at Ramanuj Kot, Shankha Dhwani from Odisha by Shri Sunil Kumar Sahu and Lokpanthi dance from Chhattisgarh led by Shri Dinesh Kumar Jagde at Ramghat. CM Dr. Yadav appreciated all the performances.

Devotees Watch the Procession on LED Screens

To ensure a smooth darshan (viewing experience), two LED-fitted mobile chariots displayed live visuals of the procession, enabling devotees to witness it conveniently.
