1958 Colleges Apply for Acharya Chanakya Skill Development Centers – Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha
Mumbai, 18th: The Acharya Chanakya Skill Development Centers will be established in 1000 colleges across the state, and so far, 1958 colleges have submitted applications. Minister of Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation Mangal Prabhat Lodha announced in a press conference at the Ministry Legislature Press Room that more colleges will be included in this initiative in the near future.
Minister Lodha stated that the training program at the Acharya Chanakya Skill Development Centers is set to commence in August. The National Education Policy 2020 emphasizes vocational education. To create a conducive environment for the implementation of this policy and provide skill development opportunities to the youth within colleges, the innovative “Acharya Chanakya Skill Development Center” scheme has been launched. Applications were invited for setting up skill development training centers in 1000 reputed colleges of the state, and an impressive 1958 colleges have spontaneously filed their applications.
Minister Lodha noted that each skill development center will offer free skill development training to around 150 youths annually. This means approximately 1,50,000 youths across the state will receive free skill development training each year. The scheme is open to all youths aged 15 to 45. Special efforts are being made to equip college students with up-to-date technology skills, enhancing their employability. The state and central governments aim to create youth who are not just job seekers but also job creators.
