Pandey Emphasizes Boosting Employment Opportunities Through Rural Industries
Raipur : Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Khadi and Village Industries Board, Shri Rakesh Pandey, conducted an inspection of rural industry units during his visit to villages Nari and Kokdi in the Kurud development block on Wednesday. During the visit, he reviewed the activities being undertaken by village industries in the region.

Shri Pandey observed the functioning of traditional and small-scale industries, including handloom weaving, pottery, and silk reeling. He praised these units and highlighted their contribution toward women’s empowerment, local innovation, and employment generation for rural youth.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Pandey stated that village industries not only help increase the income of rural households but also play a vital role in utilizing local resources efficiently and preserving cultural heritage. He emphasized that it is a priority of the state government to establish at least one village industry unit in every gram panchayat to boost employment and strengthen the rural economy.
The inspection was attended by Shri Pankaj Agrawal, Deputy Director of the Village Industries Department (Raipur), Deputy Director of the Panchayat Department (Dhamtari), Chief Executive Officer of Janpad Panchayat Kurud, and other officials. These officials briefed the Chairman about ongoing grassroots activities, the involvement of local self-help groups, training initiatives, and the marketing of products.
Shri Pandey directed the officials to replicate similar units in other villages of the district and ensure that self-help groups are provided with technical support, training, and better platforms for marketing their products. He also expressed hope that several new rural industry units will soon be set up in Dhamtari district, especially aimed at empowering women and youth toward self-reliance.
This inspection was not only a review of current initiatives but is also being seen as a proactive step toward shaping future plans for the growth of rural industries in the state.
