District Level Storytelling Competition Held in Siaha

Winner to Represent Siaha District at State-Level Contest on August 8

Siaha : A District Level Storytelling Competition was organized today at the DRDO Conference Hall in Siaha by the Mizoram Tourism Department. The event was inaugurated and chaired by SDO (S) Pu Vanlalchhuanliana.

Speaking on the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner Pu Abraham Beirazi Khithie expressed appreciation to all the participants and thanked the Tourism Department for organizing the competition. He highlighted the rich potential of Siaha district as a tourist destination and encouraged participants to use such platforms to promote local heritage and narratives. He also motivated the winners to strive for excellence in the upcoming State Level Storytelling Competition.

Seven significant local attractions were selected as the primary themes for this storytelling competition:

  1. Pala Lake
  2. Mawma Tlah
  3. Castle of Beino
  4. Pala Wetland
  5. Tokalo Wildlife Sanctuary
  6. Siata Village
  7. Lorraine Ville, Saikao

Apart from these, stories related to the Kaopi (Tisi) region were also presented, highlighting its cultural and historical value.

The judging panel included Pu Pachi Hlychho, Vice Chairman of the Mara Literature Board; Pu JB Chozah, Art & Culture Promotion Officer, MADC; and Pu T. Chatlua, Additional DPC (Samagra Shiksha, Siaha). They shared constructive feedback and explained the judging criteria in detail.

Pi P. Chaki, President of MCHP General Headquarters, delivered the concluding remarks. She encouraged the winner to prepare well for the State-Level competition on August 8 and emphasized the importance of promoting tourism through storytelling. SDC Pi Zorinsangi also shared words of encouragement and praised the participants for their commendable performances.

Winners of the District-Level Storytelling Competition:

  1. Zine P. Fachhai – ₹10,000 cash prize + Certificate
  2. J. Vanlalhruaitluangi – ₹8,000 cash prize + Certificate
  3. Monica Laldinpuii – ₹5,000 cash prize + Certificate

The first prize winner, Zine P. Fachhai, will represent Siaha district at the upcoming State-Level Storytelling Competition scheduled for August 8.
