CM Devendra Fadnavis: Maharashtra Will Establish the Country’s Best Healthcare System in the Next Four Years
Inauguration of Late Bhanutai Gadkari Memorial Diagnostic Centre
New scheme to be launched for treatment of Sickle Cell, Thalassemia, and Anemia
Nagpur – A robust plan is being implemented to establish a healthcare network every three kilometers, with the aim of building India’s best public health system in Maharashtra within the next four years, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced. He emphasized that the participation of both voluntary organizations and citizens is crucial in achieving this goal. A new scheme is also being prepared to offer affordable treatment for Sickle Cell Disease, Thalassemia, and Anemia, he added.
CM Fadnavis was speaking at the inauguration of the Late Bhanutai Gadkari Memorial Diagnostic Centre, operated by the Late Bhanutai Gadkari Rural Development Institute, located at Kamal Chowk in the Lashkaribagh area of Nagpur.
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari presided over the event. Guardian Minister and State Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, and Institute Chairperson Kanchan Tai Gadkari were also present.
Among the dignitaries attending were MLAs Sandeep Joshi, Pravin Datke, and Ashish Deshmukh, Venerable Bhante Anand Thera (General Secretary, Mahabodhi Society, Bengaluru), Swami Raghavendra (President, Ramakrishna Math, Nagpur), former minister Adv. Sulekha Kumbhare, Rajesh Loya, Dr. Jitendra Sharma (MD, AMTZ, Visakhapatnam), former mayor Dayashankar Tiwari, former MP Dr. Vikas Mahatme, former MLAs Girish Vyas and Tekchand Sawarkar, among others.
CM Fadnavis: Compassion Is as Important as Service in Healthcare
The CM stressed that compassion is as critical as service in healthcare. “Nitinji embodies both qualities. That’s why he envisioned and established a diagnostic centre in his mother’s name to serve the underprivileged. This centre will become a milestone in the state’s healthcare services,” he stated.
He further added that Nitin Gadkari was inspired by his late mother Bhanutai Gadkari’s commitment to social service, which enabled him to contribute significantly to the nation. “His work has always focused on the welfare of the last person in society—whether it’s in industry, agriculture, or healthcare. This diagnostic centre is a major step forward in that mission,” he said.
Reducing Healthcare Costs with Indigenous Technology
Highlighting the rising costs in medical services due to advanced technologies, the CM noted that using ‘Made in India’ machines for MRI and CT scans can significantly reduce diagnostic fees. Additionally, he emphasized the need to increase the number of hospitals under the Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana to ensure broader coverage.
He reiterated that Maharashtra aims to become the benchmark for the best healthcare system in India over the next four years, and the state will soon roll out a new scheme for the treatment of Sickle Cell, Thalassemia, and Anemia.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari: This Centre is for Service, Not Profit
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said the centre was established in line with the philosophy of Antyodaya as envisioned by Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya—to serve the most underprivileged. “True politics lies in service, society, and nation-building, not just power,” he said.
He expressed satisfaction in dedicating a facility in memory of his mother, calling it a “medium of service, not a business.” He credited the successful establishment of the centre to the support of many like-minded individuals.
The welcome address was delivered by Kanchan Tai Gadkari, and the event was compered by Dr. Richa Sugandh.
