“Free hearse service started with a resolve to serve : CM Dr.Yadav
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Monday flagged off a fleet of free hearse vehicles from his residence under the new initiative launched by the Public Health and Medical Education Department. These vehicles have been dispatched to various districts across the state. CM Dr. Yadav said the free hearse service is being launched with the values of humanity and service, particularly to assist the underprivileged and those in need. Under this initiative, two vehicles have been allocated to each district hospital, while four vehicles have been provided to districts with medical colleges, making a total of 148 vehicles operational across the state.
This facility will ensure that the mortal remains of the deceased can be transported with dignity to their destination. The service will be available 24×7, and the presence of drivers will be ensured. These vehicles will be used only in cases of death at government medical institutions run by the state.
CM Dr. Yadav emphasised that the government has launched several public welfare schemes, and this free hearse service is a sensitive and significant initiative underlining the state’s commitment to service.
Air Ambulance and ‘Rahveer’ Scheme
CM Dr. Yadav also highlighted that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has ensured the government stands with people in their times of need through various citizen-centric initiatives. Whether it’s for the poor, youth, women or farmers, both the Central and State governments are working diligently for their welfare.
He said that while PM Shri Ambulance Service is operational to provide quick transport to major medical institutions for critical patients and accident victims, the ‘Rahveer Yojana’ rewards Rs. 25,000 to any citizen, who helps rush a seriously injured accident victim to the hospital within an hour, saving a life.
Fulfillment of Government’s Service Commitment
CM Dr. Yadav stated that this free hearse service will be of immense support to poor families. In times of grief, when a person passes away despite all medical efforts, the family is left distressed and often struggles to arrange a vehicle to bring the deceased home. This initiative addresses that critical need and will also raise public awareness about the government’s commitment to compassionate governance.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav appreciated the Health Department for launching this service, noting that most other states in the country do not have such a facility.
Present on the occasion were Deputy Chief Minister Shri Rajendra Prasad Shukla, Minister of State for Public Health and Family Welfare Shri Narendra Shivaji Patel, former minister Shri Bhupendra Singh, and other public representatives.
