Urgent Relocation of Residents Near Mahatma Phule Wada and Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule Memorial Ordered – Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar
Mumbai : To commence the preservation and expansion work of Mahatma Phule Wada and the Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule Memorial in Pune, it is necessary to relocate the residents living around the memorial. Deputy Chief Minister and Pune Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar has directed that the relocation process of residents willing to move to alternate sites should begin immediately.
In a meeting held at the Mantralaya, Deputy Chief Minister Pawar reviewed the progress of the preservation and expansion work of the Mahatma Phule Wada and the Savitribai Phule Memorial in Pune. The meeting was attended by Food and Civil Supplies Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, former MLA Sameer Bhujbal, Additional Chief Secretary of the Planning Department Dr. Rajgopal Deora, Principal Secretary of the Finance Department Saurabh Vijay, and the Deputy Chief Minister’s Secretary Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh. Pune Divisional Commissioner Dr. Chandrakant Pulkundwar, Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi, and Pune Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram joined via video conferencing.
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar stated that the state government has allocated ₹200 crore for the land acquisition required for the expansion and integration of the memorial. However, the land acquisition process has not yet started. Approximately 1,000 residents around the memorial have been offered alternate locations for relocation. Among them, 200 residents have agreed to move. The relocation of these residents should begin immediately. A phased plan should be made to shift the remaining residents, and the land acquisition process should commence within the next 15 days.
Food and Civil Supplies Minister Chhagan Bhujbal added that the memorial expansion work is underway. The residents who are ready to move to the alternate sites should be relocated in the first phase, followed by the relocation of the remaining residents.
