Women and Child Development Minister Inspects Services for Children, Women, and Persons with Disabilities in Bijapur

“Be Sensitive Towards Children and Women,” Says Minister Lakshmi Rajwade

Raipur, Aug 25 : Women and Child Development and Social Welfare Minister Smt. Lakshmi Rajwade conducted an extensive inspection of departmental institutions during her one-day visit to Bijapur. Her visit aimed to assess the on-ground implementation of welfare schemes and ensure the quality and sensitivity of services being delivered.

As part of her inspection, the Minister visited the Boys’ Home (Tumoros Foundation) and the District Girls’ Home operating under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015. She interacted warmly with the children, learning about their daily routines, nutrition, education, health, and recreational activities.

Emphasizing the importance of education, the Minister directed officials to ensure the availability of all essential resources, including tuition classes and digital learning facilities, for every child. Noticing the special needs of a differently-abled girl in the Girls’ Home, she instructed the Social Welfare Department to provide her with a prosthetic limb to ease her learning and day-to-day life.

Visit to Sakhi One-Stop Centre: Focus on Safety and Rehabilitation of Women
At the Sakhi One-Stop Centre, the Minister reviewed the services provided to women in distress. Officials shared that the centre handles an average of 12 to 20 cases monthly, offering counseling, legal aid, medical assistance, and shelter. In some cases, FIRs are filed with the victim’s consent. The Minister stressed the importance of a sensitive approach towards women and ensuring their dignity and protection.

Visit to Samarth School: A Touching Moment of Inclusion
A highlight of the visit was the emotionally moving tour of Samarth School in Bijapur Education City. The Minister observed various activities being conducted for differently-abled children in the sensory room and appreciated the equipment and rehabilitation services available. Children welcomed her with a heartfelt dance performance. She interacted with them about their studies, interests, and dreams, gifting them fruits and chocolates as a token of encouragement.

De-addiction Centre Visit: A Message of Hope and Recovery
In the final leg of her visit, the Minister reached the de-addiction centre, where she spoke with individuals undergoing treatment. She motivated them by saying that life is precious and encouraged them to move forward toward a loving and dignified life with their families. She also reviewed the medical and psychological services provided at the centre and assured special support for those in need.

Minister Rajwade affirmed the Chhattisgarh government’s commitment to ensuring that every child, woman, and specially-abled individual lives with dignity and can easily access all government services.
District Collector Shri Sambit Mishra, Department Director Shri P.L. Elma, SP Dr. Jitendra Yadav, CEO of Zila Panchayat Shri Hemant Ramesh Nandanwar, and other senior officials were present, sharing updates on schemes and seeking guidance for further improvement.
