Committed to Making Nashik Pollution-Free and Environmentally Balanced Green City – Minister Pankaja Munde
Nashik, Aug 2025 : Nashik is blessed with a clean, beautiful, and eco-friendly natural environment. To preserve this environment, collective cooperation is essential. The state government is committed to making every possible effort for a pollution-free and environmentally balanced Green Nashik, said State Minister for Environment, Climate Change, and Animal Husbandry Pankaja Munde.
A review meeting of the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) Regional Office, Nashik, was held in the presence of Minister Pankaja Munde. Also present were MLAs Seema Hire and Devyani Pharande, MPCB Member Secretary Dr. Avinash Dhakne, Deputy Secretary (Technical) Dr. Rajendra Rajput, Deputy Regional Officer Prashant Gaikwad, Jalgaon Deputy Regional Officer Karan Singh Rajput, Dhule Deputy Regional Officer Pranav Pakhale, Ahilyanagar Deputy Regional Officer Chandrakant Shinde, Scientific Officer Suresh Mali, and officials from various departments.
Minister Pankaja Munde stated that untreated sewage is being directly discharged into drains or nearby rivers, leading to significant water pollution and posing health hazards to local residents. Similarly, air pollution is increasing due to toxic emissions from chimneys and industries. She instructed the concerned agencies to take strict legal action against companies found violating pollution control regulations.
She further mentioned that various complaints are being received from citizens residing in industrial and municipal corporation areas. Hence, the concerned authorities must focus on pollution control and environmental protection, and implement necessary measures to safeguard the health of local residents and reduce river pollution.
MPCB Member Secretary Dr. Avinash Dhakne assured that efforts will be made through the Pollution Control Board to provide citizens with a pollution-free environment. He also urged entrepreneurs to prioritize eco-friendly industries that help reduce pollution. Deputy Regional Officer Prashant Gaikwad gave a presentation through slides on the measures taken regarding pollution, sewage management, and other initiatives in the MPCB’s jurisdiction.
