Jaipur Aug 2025 : Under the initiative of Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma and the guidance of Medical Minister Shri Gajendra Singh Khimsar, the state of Rajasthan has been consistently promoting the noble cause of organ donation through policy reforms. For its outstanding work in the field of organ donation and large-scale public awareness efforts, Rajasthan has been honored with two national awards in the categories of Emerging State in Organ Donation and Transplantation and Excellence in Promotion of Organ Donation.
At a prestigious ceremony held at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi on Saturday, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Shri J.P. Nadda presented these awards. Secretary of Medical Education Shri Ambrish Kumar, Commissioner of Medical Education Shri Iqbal Khan, along with the medical education team associated with organ donation in Rajasthan, received the awards.
Medical and Health Minister Shri Gajendra Singh Khimsar congratulated all officials, personnel, institutions, and families who came forward with generosity for their remarkable achievement in the field of organ donation.
He said that organ donation is the greatest gift of life — a noble act of giving someone a new lease on life. With the consent and willingness of one individual, many lives can be saved. A person in need can be given a new life, new light, and renewed hope.
He added that even today, millions of people in our country are waiting for organ transplants. This waiting can only end when we all understand the importance of organ donation and come forward to contribute. The state government is continuously working to make the organ donation process simple, transparent, and safe. He appealed to the people of the state to raise awareness about organ donation and encourage more individuals to voluntarily pledge their organs.
Secretary of Medical Education Shri Ambrish Kumar stated that the Medical Education Department is constantly innovating to promote organ donation across the state. Rajasthan leads the country in online pledges for organ donation. Furthermore, continuous improvements have been made in facilities related to organ donation and transplantation. Efforts are being made to ensure that all medical colleges and associated hospitals have these facilities. The goal is to provide basic infrastructure for organ donation and transplantation in every district, and all necessary steps will be taken towards this end.
Commissioner of Medical Education Shri Iqbal Khan informed that significant progress has been made in the field of organ donation in the state in recent times. Several positive changes have been made to the guidelines to ensure transparency in the organ donation and transplantation process. New committees have been formed, and the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) have been revised, resulting in a rapid increase in organ donations.
Present at the award ceremony were Appropriate Authority Dr. Rashmi Gupta, State Authorization Committee Convener Dr. Giridhar Goyal, SOTO representative Dr. Dharmesh, and officials including Shri Roshan and others.
