Uniform Civil Code Committee Chairperson Retired Justice Smt. Ranjana Desai, Along With Other Members, Pays a Courtesy Visit to Chief Minister
Gandhinagar, Aug 2025: A committee has been formed to evaluate the need for a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Gujarat and draft the proposed law. The committee, chaired by retired Supreme Court judge Smt. Ranjana Desai, including five members, held a courtesy meeting with Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar. During the visit, the Chairperson briefed the CM on the progress of their work. Law Minister Shri Rushikesh Patel and Minister of State for Home Shri Harsh Sanghavi remained present during the meeting.
Committee members Shri C.L. Meena (retired senior IAS officer), Advocate Shri R.C. Kodekar, former Vice Chancellor Shri Dakshesh Thakar, and social worker Smt. Gita Shroff attended the meeting. Also present were Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri M.K. Das, Secretary Dr. Vikrant Pandey, Acting Law Secretary Shri Upendra Bhatt, and other senior officials.
