CM City to Soon Get Another Natural Tourist Spot — Yogi Government Revives Neglected Chilua Tal

Gorakhpur, Aug 2025 : The long-neglected Chilua Tal, located on the northern edge of Gorakhpur, is undergoing a dramatic transformation into a beautiful tourist spot, thanks to the vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Inspired by the success of Ramgarh Tal in the southern part of the city, Chilua Tal is being developed into a similar scenic and economic hub, with work nearing completion.

The beautification of Chilua Tal Ghat has been carried out at a cost of over ₹20 crore and is 98% complete, with preparations underway for its inauguration by CM Yogi Adityanath. Once inaugurated, it will become not just a center for recreation but also for local employment, with kiosks and shops already constructed along the ghat.

From Neglect to Nirvana: A New Face for Chilua Tal

Just as Ramgarh Tal has become the most popular tourist destination in eastern Uttar Pradesh, Chilua Tal is now offering a similar visual and recreational experience in the city’s north. The transformation reflects CM Yogi’s vision of turning natural water bodies into assets for tourism and employment.

So far, seven shops have been completed at the ghat. Visitors can enjoy the serene lakeside while also savoring local cuisine from these outlets. Residents have already started visiting for morning walks and daytime leisure, even before the official inauguration.

₹20.39 Crore Project Almost Complete

According to Rajendra Prasad Yadav, Deputy Director of the Tourism Department, the ₹20.39 crore project is now nearly complete. Only minor finishing work remains, which is being expedited. The project follows the same model as Ramgarh Tal, which was also revived by the Yogi government into a globally recognized tourist destination.

Infrastructure Highlights

Executed by UP Projects Corporation Ltd., the key developments at Chilua Tal Ghat include:

• 570 meters of pathway construction
• 70 meters of ghat steps
• Perimeter railings
• Solar lighting
• Interlocking tiles and CC roads
• Benches and approach road
• Boulder pitching for shoreline protection
• Shops, public toilets, and feeding room

These enhancements have significantly improved the appearance and functionality of the area. Where once people hesitated to visit, now the ghat is already attracting morning walkers and visitors even before its formal inauguration.
