Special efforts are being made in the state for the respect, prosperity, and empowerment of weavers – Chief Minister
Raipur, Aug 2025 : On the occasion of National Handloom Day, a delegation from the Chhattisgarh Weavers’ Community paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at his residence office in the state capital, Raipur.
The Chief Minister warmly welcomed all the representatives and extended his heartfelt greetings on National Handloom Day. Praising the weaver community, he said that handloom art is our rich heritage, giving the state a distinct identity and strengthening our cultural pride.
He added that the weavers of Chhattisgarh, through their hard work, skill, and creativity, are enhancing the glory of the state. The government, he emphasized, is making multi-dimensional efforts for their prosperity, empowerment, and self-reliance – from ensuring easy availability of raw materials, reducing production costs, to providing better marketing facilities. He stressed that self-reliance is the key to unlocking new creative heights for weavers.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for “Vocal for Local”, the Chief Minister said that now is the time to encourage our traditional products and craftsmanship. The handloom industry, he noted, is not only a source of livelihood but also a living symbol of cultural consciousness that the weaver community continues to preserve.
On this occasion, members of the community presented the Chief Minister with a replica of a traditional loom made by the weavers themselves. The Chief Minister remarked that this gift is not only a symbol of their respect and emotions but also represents creativity, tradition, and the cultural values of our state.
He assured that the Chhattisgarh Government is fully committed to providing every possible support to the weaver community, giving their all-round development the highest priority. He concluded by saying that the coming times will be an era of respect, prosperity, and empowerment for weavers.
Present at the occasion were National Vice President of the Weavers’ Community Mahesh Devangan, along with Purushottam Devangan, Dhanesh Devangan, Gajendra Devangan, and other senior members.
