Health Minister Pi Lalrinpuii Graces Women’s Polytechnic Aizawl Freshers’ Social

Aizawl, Aug 2025: Health Minister Pi Lalrinpuii today graced the Freshers’ Social of Women’s Polytechnic Aizawl as the chief guest. The event was held at the institution’s Multipurpose Hall to welcome the newly admitted students.

In her address, Pi Lalrinpuii extended her best wishes to the freshers, expressing hope that Women’s Polytechnic would serve as a strong foundation for their growth and development. She urged the students to acquire skills that would enable them to become self-reliant and productive members of society. Emphasising the importance of public health awareness, she encouraged them to act as advocates against substance abuse and HIV, contributing positively to their families and communities. She also expressed appreciation for the institution’s consistent record of ensuring successful placements for its graduates, noting that this reflected the high quality of education imparted. The Minister highlighted that in a rapidly changing world, it was essential to continuously introduce courses that meet current needs, thereby producing competent professionals who can serve the state and the nation.

The programme was presided over by Women’s Polytechnic Principal Er. B. Lalhmuakluaia. The institute offers four three-year diploma courses: Modern Office Practice (MOP), Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering (ET), Garment Technology (GT), and Beauty Culture & Cosmetology (BCC). Admission to MOP requires completion of Class 12, while the other three courses—ET, GT, and BCC—are open to Class 10 pass students. The institution has well-equipped hostel facilities to accommodate students.

A well-functioning Training & Placement Cell actively coordinates with companies in Mizoram and regularly organises campus interviews for graduating students. A significant number of alumni are employed across various states in India and abroad, with many successfully running their own ventures.
