Mining Department to Focus on All Possible Revenue Sources, Including Old Dues – Chief Secretary

Jaipur, Aug 2025 – The Department of Mines & Geology will adopt an aggressive strategy to boost revenue, focusing not only on routine collections but also on recovery of outstanding dues and tapping other potential revenue sources.

Principal Secretary (Mines & Geology) T. Ravikant, in a meeting with senior officials including Director of Mines Deepak Tanwar at Khanij Bhawan on Tuesday, directed the preparation of a concrete plan covering recovery of dues, delineation-to-auction processes, issuance of Letters of Intent (LOIs), and operationalising auctioned mines.

He instructed that, apart from cases under court stay, all old outstanding amounts, penalty dues, and recoveries from illegal mining activities should be pursued vigorously. He emphasized strong legal follow-up to vacate court stays and collect pending amounts. A monthly action plan for each ME and AME office was recommended, along with fortnightly revenue review.

Ravikant informed that as of August 6, the department had earned ₹2,968.11 crore in revenue—higher than the same period last year—but stressed the need to focus on amnesty schemes, old dues, and penalties to further boost collections.

Highlighting Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma’s vision, Ravikant said the aim is to make Rajasthan’s mining sector a national leader in exploration, auctions, investment, employment, and revenue generation. He called for diversification in mineral block auctions and a roadmap from exploration to operational readiness.

Director of Mines Deepak Tanwar said the department is fully focused on revenue generation and has been directed to make all possible efforts for recovering outstanding dues, targeting a record revenue achievement this financial year.

Additional Director (Mines) Mahesh Mathur presented the action plan. The meeting was attended by Financial Advisor Girish Kachhara, OSD Shrikrishna Sharma, JLR Gajendra Singh, and senior officials including Superintending Mining Engineers N.S. Shaktawat, Pratap Meena, O.P. Kabra, Jay Gurubakhsani, Dr. Dharmendra Lohar, S.P. Sharma, MEs Asif Mohammad Ansari, Anuj Goyal, Deepak Gehlot, and ACP Jayesh Neenama.
