Timely Completion of Drinking Water Projects is Top Priority: CM Bhajanlal Sharma

Jaipur, Aug 2025 – Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has directed that all drinking water supply projects be treated as the highest priority and completed within stipulated timelines. He stressed that uninterrupted and regular water supply to the public must be ensured without any negligence.

Reviewing the 2025–26 budget announcements of the Public Health Engineering Department at his residence on Tuesday, Sharma said the state government is committed to implementing large-scale water projects to ensure adequate water supply across Rajasthan. He instructed officials to speed up tender processes for pending projects and issue work orders promptly.

On-Site Inspections & Accountability
The CM ordered that drinking water projects be divided into phases and monitored continuously. Officials should conduct field inspections to ensure construction quality, and penalties must be imposed if contractors fail to meet deadlines. In areas where long-term projects are underway, alternative arrangements for water supply must also be ensured.

Benefit from Jal Jeevan Mission
While reviewing the Jal Jeevan Mission, Sharma said Rajasthan stands to benefit most from this initiative, as it will make tap water easily accessible to consumers. He directed strict action against illegal water connections and issued detailed guidelines for the implementation of the Chief Minister’s Urban Jal Jeevan Mission.

Coordination for Road Restoration
The CM stressed the need for better coordination between the Public Health Engineering, Public Works, and Urban Governance Departments for road restoration after pipeline laying. He also instructed that road reconstruction quality be assessed through third-party evaluation.

Review under AMRUT 2.0
Sharma reviewed the status of pump house and reservoir construction, pipeline installation, rising and distribution networks, and the strengthening of drinking water projects under AMRUT 2.0. Officials briefed him on the latest progress of tendered and in-process projects, as well as those planned under the Hybrid Annuity Model.

The meeting was attended by Public Health Engineering Minister Kanhaiya Lal Chaudhary, Chief Secretary Sudhansh Pant, and senior departmental officials.
