Implement Mumbai–Dighi and Mumbai–Kashid Ro-Ro Services by March – Minister Nitesh Rane
Mumbai, Aug 2025: Fisheries and Ports Minister Nitesh Rane has instructed that the Mumbai–Dighi and Mumbai–Kashid Ro-Ro services, which will make travel from Mumbai to Konkan more convenient, should be operational by the end of March. The minister issued these directions during a meeting held at Mantralaya.
Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare, Maharashtra Maritime Board CEO P. Pradeep, and other concerned officials were present at the meeting.
Directing that the jetty construction works at both Dighi and Kashid be expedited, Minister Rane said that the Ro-Ro service will be an excellent option for travel from Mumbai to Konkan and will also save time. Therefore, the project work should be fast-tracked. While the jetty construction is ongoing, proposals for other necessary permissions should be sent for approval simultaneously. All works must be completed by the end of March.
In the same meeting, attended by MLA Mahesh Baldi, discussions were held regarding the diesel refund for fishing boats. Minister Rane assured that no eligible fishing boat will be deprived of the diesel refund benefit. He also directed that fishermen’s associations should make their boats available to the Fisheries Department officers for inspection, and that a satisfactory decision should be reached for the fishermen in this matter.
