NTA Assures Fresh Opportunity for CUET-UG Candidates Affected by Technical Glitch

New Delhi, May 2026 : The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Saturday announced that all candidates who were unable to complete their CUET-UG 2026 examination due to a technical disruption at certain centres will be given another opportunity to take the test.

The assurance came after a technical glitch delayed the conduct of the morning shift examination, causing inconvenience and anxiety among thousands of students appearing for the nationwide entrance test.

In a statement posted on social media, the NTA acknowledged the difficulties faced by candidates and clarified that those who had completed biometric registration and were present at their examination centres during the first shift on May 30, but could not finish the exam because of the disruption, would be allowed to reappear.

“We understand that today’s technical issue caused distress to some CUET-UG 2026 candidates. All affected candidates who were present at their centres and completed the required registration formalities will be given another opportunity to take the examination,” the agency said.

The disruption was later attributed to a technical issue by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the technology partner responsible for conducting the computer-based examination. The company confirmed that the issue resulted in a delay of nearly two hours in the commencement of the morning session at certain centres.

TCS Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director K Krithivasan said the problem was quickly identified and rectified by the company’s technical teams.

“The issue was resolved promptly, and the examination resumed without affecting the integrity or sanctity of the test,” Krithivasan stated, while expressing regret for the inconvenience caused to candidates. He added that TCS teams continue to monitor all systems closely to ensure the smooth conduct of examinations in coordination with the NTA.

Following the disruption, the NTA revised the examination schedule and assured students that no one would be disadvantaged due to the delay. The agency stated that affected candidates were being provided the full duration of the examination and would be allowed to leave only after completing the allotted test time.

The NTA also expressed regret to students and parents for the inconvenience and reiterated its commitment to conducting the examination fairly and efficiently.

CUET-UG serves as a common entrance platform for admission to undergraduate programmes across universities in India. The examination is designed to provide equal opportunities to students from urban, rural and remote regions by offering a standardized admission process.

Registration for CUET-UG 2026 began in April, and the examination continues to be one of the country’s largest entrance tests. Last year, more than 13.5 lakh candidates registered for the undergraduate admission examination, underlining its growing significance in India’s higher education landscape.

With the technical issue now resolved, authorities have assured candidates that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure a smooth and transparent examination process in the remaining sessions.
