Yogi govt rules out fertilizer shortage, warns black marketeers

Lucknow, Aug 2025 : The Yogi government has reiterated that fertilizer stocks are sufficient across Uttar Pradesh and urged farmers to avoid hoarding. According to the Agriculture Department, fertilizer sales during the Kharif season have exceeded last year’s levels, with 29.52 lakh metric tons sold from April 1 to August 12, 2025, compared to 24.80 lakh metric tons in the same period of 2024.

Fertilizer sales till August 12, 2025, are 4.71 lakh metric tons higher than last year, the Agriculture Department reported. Minister Surya Pratap Shahi said stocks are adequate and urged farmers not to hoard, advising them to buy only as needed. He directed officials to monitor availability in every district and reminded farmers that grievance cells are in place to address any issues.

He has also issued a stern warning to those involved in overpricing or black-marketing of fertilizers. He instructed the officials in districts to conduct inspections from time to time, establish communication with farmers, and resolve their problems.
