Ajit Pawar Directs Proposal for Rehabilitation of Sakharamachi Village Families

Mumbai, Aug 2025 : Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has directed the Revenue and Forest Departments to prepare and submit a complete proposal for the rehabilitation of families from Sakharamachi village in Pune district—severely affected by landslides and soil erosion due to heavy rains—to a suitable location in Thane district, keeping in mind the land requirements.

He was speaking at a meeting in Mantralaya regarding the rehabilitation of Sakharamachi village in Ambegaon taluka, Pune district. Also present were Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Makrand Patil, MLA Dilip Walse-Patil, Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) O.P. Gupta, and Additional Chief Secretary (Planning) Dr. Rajgopal Deora.

Pawar instructed the District Disaster Management Authority to prepare a detailed plan for the permanent relocation of the village. The proposal should include details of land available with the villagers and be submitted to the government. Necessary permissions for the identified land should be obtained, and immediate action taken. Since 46 families will be affected, the Revenue and Forest Departments must jointly review and finalize a comprehensive rehabilitation proposal, he added.
