Red Alert in Pune Ghat Region for Next 24 Hours

Mumbai, Aug 2025 : A red alert has been issued for the Pune ghat region for the next 24 hours, while an orange alert has been declared in Palghar, Thane, Mumbai City, Mumbai Suburbs, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Yavatmal, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli districts, as well as in the Satara and Kolhapur ghat areas. District administrations in these regions have been instructed to remain on high alert, according to the State Emergency Operations Centre.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall between August 17 and 21, urging citizens to remain vigilant. In view of the forecast and the possibility of landslides, district administrations have been instructed to take all necessary precautionary measures.

During this period, the sea is expected to remain rough with wind speeds likely reaching 50–60 kmph. Fishermen have been strictly advised not to venture into the sea, the State Emergency Operations Centre added.

In Raigad district, the Kundalika River has crossed the warning level. In Ratnagiri district, the Jagbudi River has crossed the danger level, flooding the Khed–Dapoli road. Consequently, traffic from Khed city towards Dapoli has been suspended for safety reasons. The district administration has appealed to citizens to remain cautious.

In Jalgaon district, water is being released from the Hatnur Dam into the Tapi river basin at the rate of 28,075 cusecs, while in Yavatmal district, the Isapur Dam is discharging 54,466 cusecs of water into the Penganga river basin.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been instructed to remain on standby for any emergency situation, according to the State Emergency Operations Centre.
