Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar Reviews Heavy Rain Situation in Maharashtra
Advises Citizens to Remain Cautious
Mumbai, Aug 2025 : Against the backdrop of heavy rainfall in many parts of Maharashtra, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar today reviewed the flood and rain situation at the State Disaster Management Cell in Mantralaya. He urged citizens not to believe in rumors or panic, but to remain alert and take necessary precautions.
A red alert has been issued for Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Palghar districts, as well as for the ghat regions. The Disaster Management Department is submitting rainfall reports every three hours. Pawar assured that the government is striving to assist all affected citizens.
Continuous heavy rain has inundated nearly 10 lakh acres of farmland across the state. Close monitoring is being maintained at dams that have reached capacity by the Water Resources Department and local authorities. People living near rivers in vulnerable areas are being alerted through official channels, and many have been relocated to safer places. Citizens have been advised to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary.
Regarding the Almatti Dam, coordination is being maintained with the neighboring state for support, and assistance is being extended from their side. The situation in Mahabaleshwar is under control. Pawar said that updates from flood-hit areas such as Beed and Majalgaon have been reviewed, and necessary instructions have been issued.
In Nanded district, water levels have risen significantly. NDRF and SDRF teams have reached the site, and relief operations are underway on a war footing. Citizens trapped in floodwaters are being rescued and moved to safety, he added. The Deputy Chief Minister stressed that the administration is in constant touch with local authorities regarding the evolving rainfall situation.
He further said that the Chief Minister, Agriculture Minister, and all Guardian Ministers are closely monitoring the situation. In areas where crops have been severely damaged, district collectors have been instructed to conduct immediate surveys and assessments once the rainfall subsides. “Citizens should not panic or believe in rumors; the administration is fully alert and closely watching the situation,” Pawar reassured.
The Deputy CM also highlighted that advanced technology is being used in disaster management control rooms to provide real-time updates on rainfall, wind patterns, and maps. Updates are being shared every three hours.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Rajesh Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary of the Disaster Management Department Sonia Sethi, and other senior officials.
