Successful Implementation of ‘GiftMilk’ Against Malnutrition in Gadchiroli

Positive Change in the Health of 20,000 Students; Initiative by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis

Gadchiroli, Aug 2025 : The nutritious milk provided daily to thousands of children in Gadchiroli district is positively transforming their health and lives. The ‘GiftMilk’ program, initiated under the leadership of Chief Minister and District Guardian Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has made the fight against malnutrition more manageable while promoting the physical, intellectual, and emotional development of school students.

This initiative has been launched by Mazagon Dock Limited through its corporate social responsibility fund in collaboration with the National Dairy Development Board’s ‘Foundation for Nutrition.’ Under this program, students from poor and marginalized communities receive 200 ml of flavored milk daily, with the aim of reducing malnutrition among students aged 5 to 15 years and increasing school attendance.

Last year, this program was implemented in 472 government and district council schools across the Dhahora, Kurkheda, Desai Ganj, and Korchi talukas. A total of 20,888 students benefited directly from this initiative, including 16,618 students from grades one to five and 4,170 students from grades six to eight. This year, the initiative is being implemented in 124 schools in the Armori taluka, and starting in September, it will benefit 9,337 students.

According to school administrators and parents, this program has improved children’s health status and increased regular school attendance. Chief Minister Fadnavis praised this initiative and expressed the intent to expand it widely in Gadchiroli district in the future.

Mazagon Dock Limited, a shipbuilding company under the Ministry of Defence of the Government of India, is fulfilling its social responsibility in areas such as health, education, women’s empowerment, infrastructure, and environmental protection, and ‘GiftMilk’ stands out as a significant initiative for Gadchiroli.
