Chief Minister Conducts Aerial Inspection of Rain-Affected Areas in Devbhoomi Dwarka

Gandhinagar : Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel conducted an aerial inspection of the affected districts, particularly the villages of Jamnagar and Dwarka, to obtain first-hand information about the situation caused by heavy rains in the coastal districts of Saurashtra. The CM held a review meeting with officials from Dwarka and Jamnagar districts, directing the district administration to adopt a zero-casualty approach for the safety of people during the heavy rains. The heavy rains in the coastal districts of Saurashtra, including Devbhoomi Dwarka, Jamnagar, and Porbandar, have disrupted the lives of residents due to flooding in low-lying areas. In a meeting with district officials at Kuranga in Devbhoomi Dwarka district, the CM assessed the rain situation and the relief measures taken by the administration, instructing them to provide all basic facilities to the relocated people.

CM stated that the administration is well-equipped to minimize the loss of life and property by using technology in rescue and relief operations during natural calamities. The CM emphasized that the state government stands with the affected people by taking measures in areas with abnormal rains, including Dwarka and Kalyanpur. He emphasized preparing the system and assessing the entire situation to prevent further property damage. CM also directed concerned departments to conduct necessary surveys as soon as the water recedes in these areas.

Collector Shri G. T. Pandya reported that the average rainfall in Devbhoomi Dwarka district for the last 30 years is 769 mm, whereas, in the last five to six days, the rainfall has reached 980 mm (50 inches) compared to the average of 31 inches. Due to advanced planning and quick action amidst continuous rain, 23 people trapped in the water have been safely rescued. Facilities, including food and health services, have been provided in shelters for the affected. The CM instructed the district administration to prioritize repair work on roads and transport services affected in the district.

In the Chief Minister’s meeting, Chief Secretary Shri Raj Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary Shri Pankaj Joshi, Director General of Police Shri Vikas Sahay, Range IG Shri Ashok Kumar Yadav, District Development Officer Shri S. D. Dhanani, Superintendent of Police Shri Nitesh Pandey, Senior Officials, MLA Shri Pabubha Manek, Municipal President Smt. Rachna Motani and officials of the organization were present.
