Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar Visits Old Tuirial Airfield Site
Aizawl, Aug 2025: Yesterday at 3:30 p.m., Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar, Minister of State for Tourism and Sports & Youth Services, visited the old Tuirial Airfield site, accompanied by officials from the Sports & Youth Services Department, National Cadet Corps (NCC), Mizoram State Sports Council, and the Tourism Department, to explore its potential for future use.
During the visit, the Sports Minister and his team inspected how the land at the old airfield, presently under the Tourism Department, could be effectively utilized. They discussed the feasibility of establishing an NCC Academy for youth training, while also identifying requirements and plans for its development.
The team further examined whether the site could serve not only as an NCC Academy, but also as a venue for special flying training for the NCC Air Wing. They also explored the possibility of developing the site into a training centre for drone technology, which has become essential in today’s world. Additionally, its potential use as a sports facility was also reviewed.
On the tourism front, Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar and his team considered ways the site could be developed into a venue for large-scale tourism promotional events.
The inspection at Tuirial Airfield was attended by Pu C. Lalremsanga (Joint Director, Sports & Youth Services Department), Pu Lalrinsanga (Wing Commander, Commanding Officer, 1 Mizo Air Squadron NCC), engineers from the Mizoram State Sports Council, and officials from the Tourism Department.
