CM Dhami instructs to provide immediate assistance of Rs. 5 lakh to affected families in Tharali and other disaster-affected areas
Aug 2025 : The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, reviewed the relief efforts in Tharali (Chamoli) disaster-affected areas on Saturday night at the Disaster Management Center in Dehradun. He instructed the District Magistrate to provide immediate assistance of Rs. 5 lakh to families whose houses were damaged in Tharali and other disaster-affected areas.
The Chief Minister also instructed to provide Rs. 5 lakh compensation to the families of those who lost their lives in the disaster. He directed the authorities to ensure timely drainage of water from Syan Chatt, a flooded area.
The Chief Minister appreciated the District Magistrate of Chamoli for his prompt response and effective management of relief efforts in Tharali. He instructed the officials to ensure that people who have been rendered homeless in Tharali are provided with temporary shelter and relief materials promptly.
The Chief Minister also directed the officials to restore basic amenities like electricity, water, and road networks in the affected areas as soon as possible. He emphasized the need to ensure the quality of relief materials, including ration, being distributed to the affected families.
The Chief Minister praised the SDRF and NDRF teams for their effective relief and rescue efforts in Tharali. He instructed all District Magistrates to be prepared for the next two days, given the Orange Alert in the state.
The Chief Minister has also instructed to form a committee of experts and scientists from various reputed agencies to study the pattern of recent disasters in Dharaali, Saaji (Pauri), and Dharaali and prepare a report.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Shri Anand Vardhan, Principal Secretary Shri RK Sudhanshu, Shri R Meenakshi Sundaram, Shri Shailesh Bagouli, and all concerned officials, as well as District Magistrates of Chamoli and Uttarkashi through virtual means.
