4,905 Senior Citizens from Jaipur to Embark on Free Pilgrimage Under Rajasthan Government Scheme
Jaipur, Aug 2025 . Under the Rajasthan Government’s Senior Citizen Pilgrimage Scheme–2025, a total of 4,905 senior citizens from Jaipur district will get the opportunity to travel on free pilgrimages. On Tuesday, in the presence of Devasthan Minister Shri Joraram Kumawat, District In-charge Minister Shri Jogaram Patel conducted the online lottery and announced the successful applicants.
Minister Shri Jogaram Patel said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma, the state government is committed to the welfare of every section of society. He emphasized that senior citizens are our heritage, and their lifelong experiences and blessings help society and the nation move forward. This initiative aims to connect elders with faith and spirituality at this stage of life, while also boosting their morale.
He informed that across the state, a total of 56,000 senior citizens are being given the opportunity to travel through both air and rail routes, of which 4,905 are from Jaipur district. Among them, 526 will travel by air to visit the Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu, while 4,379 will travel by train to various pilgrimage destinations. Jaipur district had received 11,378 applications covering 18,423 passengers.
For train journeys, the selected beneficiaries will be taken to destinations such as Haridwar–Rishikesh–Ayodhya–Varanasi–Sarnath, Shikharji–Pawapuri–Varanasi–Sarnath, Mathura–Vrindavan–Barsana–Agra–Ayodhya, Dwarkapuri–Nageshwar–Somnath, Tirupati–Padmavati, Kamakhya–Guwahati, Gangasagar–Kolkata, Jagannath Puri–Konark, Rameshwaram–Madurai, Vaishno Devi–Amritsar–Wagah Border, temples and churches in Goa, Mahakaleshwar–Ujjain–Omkareshwar–Trimbakeshwar–Grishneshwar–Ellora, Bihar Sharif, Patna Sahib, Hazur Sahib Nanded, and other major sites.
Devasthan Minister Shri Joraram Kumawat said that the pilgrimage scheme not only gives elders the chance to visit holy places but also provides them with spiritual fulfillment and peace of mind. It strengthens collective bonds, community spirit, and social relationships.
He added that passengers above 70 years of age can be accompanied by one attendant. Moreover, if one spouse is 60 years or older and the other is at least 58 years, both are eligible to travel together. The government has ensured arrangements for health, safety, and convenience, with medical staff, security personnel, and officials accompanying each group.
The event was attended by Rajya Sabha MP Shri Rajendra Gehlot, MLAs Shri Chandraprakash Aakya, Shri Jeevaram Chaudhary, Shri Ashok Kothari, and Smt. Priyanka Chaudhary, along with District Collector Dr. Jitendra Kumar Soni, Additional District Collector (IV) Shri Devendra Kumar Jain, Devasthan Department Assistant Commissioner (I) Shri Ratanlal Yogi, and other officials.
