Highlights Rajasthan’s Massive Plantation Drive under ‘Hariyalo Rajasthan’ — 7.5 Crore Saplings Planted Last Year, Nearly 11 Crore This Year
Jaipur, Aug 2025 : Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma said that in the protection of trees, Amrita Devi ji and 363 people of the Bishnoi community made the supreme sacrifice, a sacrifice unmatched anywhere in the world for the cause of environmental conservation. He noted that the Khejri tree is not just a tree but also a medicine, while Ker and Sangri are unique symbols of Rajasthan’s identity.
The Chief Minister was interacting with a delegation of the Bishnoi community at the CMO on Wednesday. He informed that under the Hariyalo Rajasthan campaign, the state government has set a target of planting 50 crore saplings in five years. As part of this mission, 7.5 crore saplings were planted last year, and around 11 crore this year. Additionally, ‘Van Mitra’ (Forest Friends) have been appointed to strengthen conservation efforts. He assured that the government has already taken important policy-level decisions for environmental protection and necessary legal provisions will also be incorporated whenever required.
CM Sharma praised the Bishnoi community, saying they have always been at the forefront of protecting trees and wildlife, setting remarkable examples that inspire every community and section of society. He added that the government is equally committed to balancing development with nature conservation, and is encouraging mass participation in environmental campaigns.
He emphasized that for thousands of years, trees, mountains, and rivers have been revered in Indian culture, and environmental and wildlife protection must be the top priority for all citizens to maintain ecological balance.
During the interaction, the Bishnoi delegation suggested adopting the Japanese Miyawaki plantation technique for large-scale tree plantation in Rajasthan and urged the government to ensure special provisions for environmental and wildlife conservation in development projects. They also expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for implementing the Hariyalo Rajasthan campaign with such vigor.
On this occasion, Minister of State for Industries and Commerce Shri Krishan Kumar K.K. Bishnoi, former minister Shri Sukhram Bishnoi, saints including Swami Bhagirath Das Ji Shastri, Acharya Sant Shri Gordhanram Ji, Mahant Shri Swami Bhagwan Das Ji, Kripacharya Ji Maharaj, Bhagirath Das Ji Maharaj, Shri Swami Sadanand Ji, Swami Omkaranand Ji, Shri Swami Shyamdas Ji, along with several public representatives and intellectuals of the Bishnoi community, were present.
