Tamil Nadu CM Stalin Begins Europe Tour to Attract Investments, Hails Warm Welcome from Diaspora in Berlin
Chennai, Aug 2025 : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin commenced his weeklong official tour of Germany and the United Kingdom on Saturday, receiving a rousing welcome from the Tamil diaspora upon his arrival in Berlin. The visit is aimed at attracting fresh industrial investments, consolidating Tamil Nadu’s position as a leading investment destination, and strengthening global business partnerships.
At Berlin airport, expatriate Tamils greeted the Chief Minister with flags, banners, and slogans celebrating his leadership. Sharing the moment on social media platform X, Stalin wrote: “Hello, Germany! My Tamil family here welcomed me with warmth and love. I have come to showcase Tamil Nadu’s strengths and to attract investments that will secure a brighter future for our state.”

Stalin, accompanied by his wife Durga Stalin, departed Chennai on Saturday morning. He was seen off by state ministers, MPs, MLAs, Chief Secretary Shiv Das Meena, senior officials, and members of his secretariat. Before boarding, Stalin told reporters that the primary objective of the tour was to bring in new Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), deepen business cooperation, and create employment opportunities for youth in Tamil Nadu.
Focus on Investments
The Chief Minister underlined that since taking office in 2021, his government has successfully attracted ₹10.62 lakh crore worth of investments through 922 MoUs, generating employment for more than 32.81 lakh people. “Many of these projects are now nearing completion, while several companies have already commenced production,” he said.
He also pointed to the consistent results of his previous overseas missions. During his US trip, Tamil Nadu signed 19 MoUs, followed by three in Spain, seven in Japan, six in the UAE, and 36 in Singapore. Of the Singapore agreements, 23 are under various stages of implementation, bringing in investments worth ₹18,498 crore and creating 30,037 jobs.
“These figures, supported by Union government data, clearly demonstrate that my foreign visits translate into concrete benefits for Tamil Nadu,” Stalin asserted, adding that the current trip was expected to further accelerate the state’s industrial growth.
Key Events on the Itinerary
Apart from investment-focused meetings with global industrial leaders and diaspora groups, the highlight of the UK leg of the tour will be Stalin’s participation in the centenary symposium of the Self-Respect Movement at Oxford University on September 4. On the occasion, he will unveil a portrait of social reformer Periyar E.V. Ramasamy, whose ideology continues to influence Tamil Nadu’s political and social fabric.
In both Germany and the UK, the Chief Minister is also scheduled to take part in welfare programmes organized by Tamil diaspora associations, with an emphasis on connecting the global Tamil community to the state’s developmental journey.
Return Schedule
After completing his engagements, Stalin will return to Chennai on September 8. State officials expect the visit to yield several new MoUs and fresh commitments from global corporations, further strengthening Tamil Nadu’s reputation as a hub for industrial growth and innovation in India.
