70 lakh ration card holders applied online for renewal
Under the Public Distribution System, now the work of ration card renewal can be done till August 15. As per the instructions of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department, renewal of the state’s prevalent ration card and e-KYC of ration card holders is being done. E-KYC of all categories of ration cards of Antyodaya, Priority, Single Destitute, Disabled and APL scheme ration card holders and renewal of ration cards have been asked to be done compulsorily by August 15, 2024. According to the information received from the Food Department, e-KYC is mandatory for renewal of ration card. At present, there are about 77 lakh ration card beneficiaries in the state. So far, a total of 70 lakh 26 thousand 106 ration card holders have been renewed.
Bijapur district is on the first position in the work of renewal, out of the total 71,329 beneficiaries, 71,109 beneficiaries have got their ration cards renewed, Narayanpur district is on the second position, out of 36,136 beneficiaries, 35,790 beneficiaries have got their ration cards renewed, similarly Sukma district is on the third position where out of 78,703 beneficiaries, about 78 thousand beneficiaries have got their ration cards renewed.
According to the information received from the department, a new mobile app of the Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department has been prepared by the Food Department for the renewal of ration card, it can be downloaded by going to the Play Store. For e-KYC, the biometric of every beneficiary must be updated. Members who have got Baal Aadhaar will have to first get their biometric updated from the Aadhaar Seva Kendra. After this, e-KYC can be done from the e-POS machine of the fair price shop. It is known that the facility of e-KYC and renewal in ration card is free.
