Haryana’s Digital Education Initiatives Gain Global Recognition at UNESCO Event; Education Minister Showcases State’s Achievements in Paris
Chandigarh, Sept 2025 — Haryana Education Minister, Sh. Mahipal Dhanda, participated in the ongoing UNESCO Digital Learning Week-2025, being held in Paris from September 1 to 5, at the invitation of UNESCO. This prestigious international event focused on the future of education, digital learning, artificial intelligence, and new technologies. The event is being attended by international organizations, policymakers, education experts, and technology scholars.
During the event, the Education Minister engaged in discussions with education ministers and representatives from various countries and deliberated on global changes in the education sector in line with India’s National Education Policy 2020.
Divulging more details, the Minister said that Haryana is implementing its education policies at this same academic level, playing a crucial role in realizing Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi’s Digital India vision. He said that this recognition proves that, under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi and Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, the state’s education system is continuously reaching new heights and making its mark globally.
Sh. Mahipal Dhanda highlighted that Haryana has made revolutionary changes in education by introducing smart classrooms, e-learning content, digital labs, teacher training programmes, and technology-based learning opportunities for students.
He added that the Haryana Government is not limiting education to traditional structures but, by adopting new technologies, is preparing students for future challenges. He also mentioned that the government has implemented several innovations with a focus on providing equal opportunities in digital education, especially for children from rural and disadvantaged communities.
Recognition of these initiatives by UNESCO is a source of pride for the state. This has raised Haryana’s global status and strengthened the state’s reputation among other stakeholders in the education sector.
A special feature of Haryana’s model presented at UNESCO Digital Learning Week was its focus on bridging the digital divide and narrowing the gap between government and private schools using IT and ICT.
