Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde Praises Preparations by Mumbai Municipal Corporation and Mumbai Police for Ganesh Visarjan

Welcomes Devotees at Girgaon Chowpatty Along with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai, Sept 2025 : Today, devotees bid farewell to Lord Ganesha across Mumbai and surrounding areas. Thanks to the preparations made by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), citizens and Ganesh mandals faced no inconvenience during the immersion process. More than 250 artificial ponds created by the BMC provided smooth arrangements for immersing household idols. Acknowledging the dedicated efforts of the Mumbai Police in maintaining law and order, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde congratulated the Municipal Commissioner, all BMC officials and staff, as well as the Mumbai Police.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy CM Shinde visited Girgaon Chowpatty, where they welcomed Ganesh devotees.

On Saturday night, Mr. Shinde personally visited Girgaon Chowpatty, greeted the Ganesh mandals, and lauded the BMC’s arrangements. He said the preparations made by Mumbai Police for the immersion were commendable, noting that proper crowd management, traffic control, security arrangements, and citizen-friendly facilities ensured the festival concluded in a disciplined and smooth manner.

Several dignitaries were present on this occasion, including Legislative Council Chairman Ram Shinde, Union Minister of State for Social Justice Ramdas Athawale, State Minister of Home Affairs Yogesh Kadam, BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani, and Mumbai Special Police Commissioner Deven Bharti.

At Girgaon Chowpatty, Mr. Shinde also visited the project organized by Nanasaheb Dharmadhikari Pratishthan to convert floral offerings (nirmalya) into compost. He interacted with the volunteers and praised the initiative, stating that celebrating Ganeshotsav in an environmentally friendly manner is a collective responsibility. He appreciated this selfless effort and acknowledged the contributions of various organizations working towards eco-friendly celebrations.

The BMC had arranged over 275 artificial ponds at different locations for the immersions. Additionally, cleanliness drives and eco-friendly initiatives were undertaken, ensuring that citizens and mandals faced no inconvenience during the farewell of Lord Ganesha. Deputy CM Shinde congratulated Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani and his entire team for these efforts.

He also praised the Mumbai Police for their strong security arrangements, which ensured peaceful immersion processions. Special Commissioner of Police Deven Bharti and his team were commended for their efforts. Mr. Shinde further appreciated the discipline shown by Mumbaikars and their commitment to eco-friendly practices during the Ganesh festival.
