Concession in Power Tariffs for Lift Irrigation Schemes Extended for Two Years; Major Relief to Farmers

Mumbai, Sept 2025 : The Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today approved a two-year extension of the power tariff concession scheme for Extra High Voltage (EHV), High Voltage (HV), and Low Voltage (LV) lift irrigation schemes for farmers, up to March 2027.

This decision will bring substantial savings to around 1,789 lift irrigation schemes across the state and directly benefit farmers dependent on them.

Thanks to the concessional tariff, farmers have found it easier to secure water for crops, thereby improving agricultural output. The scheme, previously launched as a welfare measure, has helped enhance farmers’ living standards and increase their farm income.

The approved rates until March 31, 2027, are as follows:

  • EHV & HV schemes: ₹1.16 per unit, with a fixed charge of ₹25 per kVA per month.
  • LV schemes: ₹1 per unit, with a fixed charge of ₹15 per horsepower per month.

To compensate for revenue shortfall to MahaVitaran, the state government will provide subsidies of ₹886.15 crore for FY 2025-26 and ₹872.23 crore for FY 2026-27.
