Priority to Safely Bring Back Tourists from Maharashtra Stranded in Nepal – Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar

Mumbai, Sept 2025 Against the backdrop of political instability and rising tensions in Nepal, the Maharashtra government is making efforts on a war footing to ensure the safe return of tourists from the state who are stranded there. The state government, through the Ministry of External Affairs and Maharashtra Sadan, is in constant touch with the Indian Embassy in Nepal and is working to provide all necessary assistance to the stranded tourists.

“The top priority is to bring back every tourist from Maharashtra stranded in Nepal safely and to reassure their families. Hence, tourists should not panic,” Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar appealed.

So far, information has been received that around 100 tourists from Thane, Pune, Mumbai, Latur, and Kolhapur districts are stranded in Nepal. In addition, some tourists from Beed district, who set out to return by road in private vehicles, have already reached Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh.

The largest group of stranded tourists belongs to Murbad in Thane district. The state government is actively coordinating with them, providing necessary support, and maintaining contact.

“All the tourists are safe,” Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar assured.
