Minister Lakshmi Rajwade Inspects Various Institutions During Visit to Surguja
Raipur, Sept 2025 : Women and Child Development and Social Welfare Minister Smt. Lakshmi Rajwade visited Surguja district on Saturday, where she inspected several institutions, reviewed the facilities available, and issued necessary directions to officials.

The Minister first visited the Old Age Home at Ajirma. She held a cordial interaction with the elderly residents, inquiring about their well-being and listening to their concerns. She instructed the Social Welfare Officer to arrange for emergency lighting in the premises and to pay special attention to cleanliness. She emphasized that the elderly must be provided with quality food, regular health check-ups, and timely medical treatment. She also directed that district-level officers should periodically inspect the Old Age Home to ensure the quality of facilities.
Later, Smt. Rajwade inspected the Holy Cross Asha Nikunj Special School. The children welcomed her warmly with a cultural performance. She reviewed the availability of teachers, residential arrangements, the audiometry room, classrooms, and dormitories. Interacting with the students, she extended her best wishes for their bright future.

At the Girls’ Home in Darripara, the Minister met the children and reviewed their facilities. She inspected the dining hall, dormitories, recreation room, staff room, and storage area. She instructed officials to pay special attention to the safety of the girls and to ensure that the entry of all visitors is mandatorily recorded.
She also visited the Shakti Sadan being run on the premises. Here, she directed that three hearing-impaired girls be shifted to the Asha Nikunj Special School. She stressed that the children should not only be provided shelter but also be taught new skills to enable them to connect with self-employment opportunities in the future.

In addition, the Minister inspected the Nari Niketan (Women’s Shelter Home) and met the women residing there. She instructed the Women and Child Development Officer to ensure the cleanliness of dormitories and toilets.
During her visit, she also inspected the Girls’ and Boys’ Observation Homes, the “Place of Safety” for boys, and the school for children with intellectual disabilities. She reviewed the functioning of these institutions and directed officials to provide services with transparency and accountability.
Minister Smt. Rajwade said that the goal of the state government is to ensure that schemes and services reach every section of society. Providing the elderly, children, persons with disabilities, and women with a dignified and safe life is the government’s top priority.
