Raipur, Sept 2025 : The third National Lok Adalat of the year 2025 was organized in the state of Chhattisgarh. On this occasion, Hon’ble Justice Ramesh Sinha, Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court and Patron-in-Chief of Chhattisgarh State Legal Services Authority, reviewed the proceedings of the Lok Adalat. At the High Court in Bilaspur, he interacted with the presiding judges of both benches of the National Lok Adalat—Hon’ble Justice Rajani Dubey and Hon’ble Justice Deepak Kumar Tiwari—and inspected the proceedings at the District and Sessions Court, Bilaspur.

The Hon’ble Chief Justice also virtually monitored the proceedings of the National Lok Adalat conducted in all other District and Sessions Courts across the state. He interacted with the Principal District Judges of all districts, reviewed the progress of case settlements, and guided as well as encouraged them to maximize case disposal.
This initiative by the Hon’ble Chief Justice has not only motivated the presiding officers, members, and litigants of the Lok Adalat but also instilled confidence among the parties, thereby adding credibility and authenticity to the institution of Lok Adalat.
It is noteworthy that Lok Adalats are organized at the tehsil, district, and High Court levels with the aim of providing quick, easy, and affordable justice to the public. Disputes are resolved through mutual understanding and amicable settlement. Cases resolved by mutual consent in Lok Adalats are not subject to appeal, and litigants receive a refund of the full court fee deposited earlier.
At the Chhattisgarh High Court, two benches were constituted for the third National Lok Adalat. A total of 134 cases—including 07 criminal, 64 civil, 62 writ petitions, and one other civil matter—were resolved, resulting in awards worth ₹2.07 crore.
Similarly, across the state—from the High Court down to the taluka-level courts, including revenue courts—on September 13, 2025, a total of 47,02,692 cases were settled, and awards worth ₹739,48,78,898 (₹739.48 crore) were passed, as per the compiled data. In this National Lok Adalat, technology was extensively used to connect parties who could not be physically present, enabling them to participate virtually. Mobile vans were also deployed to facilitate resolution of cases.
Hon’ble Justice Ramesh Sinha, Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court, Bilaspur, expressed gratitude to Hon’ble Justice Sanjay K. Agrawal, Executive Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Legal Services Authority; Hon’ble Justice Parth Pratim Sahu, Chairman of High Court Legal Services Committee; Principal District and Sessions Judges; presiding officers of Lok Adalat benches; members of the Bar; litigants; and all stakeholders who, directly or indirectly, played a vital role in making this National Lok Adalat historically successful.
