Governor Acharya Devvrat takes oath as Governor of Maharashtra

Mumbai, Sept 2025 : Acharya Devvrat, who is the Governor of Gujarat state, today took oath as the Governor of Maharashtra. At the oath-taking ceremony held in the Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan, Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court Mr. Chandrashekhar administered him the oath of office as Governor. Governor Mr. Devvrat took the oath in Sanskrit language.

After the oath ceremony, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde congratulated Governor Devvrat by presenting him with a bouquet. Acharya Devvrat is the 22nd Governor of Maharashtra.

The oath-taking ceremony was attended by Legislative Council Chairman Prof. Ram Shinde, Assembly Speaker Adv. Rahul Narwekar, Legislative Council Deputy Chairperson Dr. Neelam Gorhe, Minister of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, Employment and Innovation Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Cooperation Minister Babasaheb Patil, Sports Minister Adv. Manikrao Kokate, Chief Secretary Rajesh Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary (Protocol) Manisha Mhaiskar and other senior officials.

At the beginning, Chief Secretary Rajesh Kumar read out the notification issued by President Droupadi Murmu regarding the appointment of Mr. Devvrat. The program began with the national anthem and state song, and concluded with the national anthem. After the oath ceremony, the Governor was given a guard of honor by the Indian Navy.

The additional charge of Governor of Maharashtra has been given to Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat.

• 45 years’ experience in the field of teaching and administration.
• From 12 August 2015 to 21 July 2019, worked as Governor of Himachal Pradesh.
• During this period, effective implementation of programs like Natural Farming, Cow Protection, “Beti Bachao–Beti Padhao”, Social Harmony, De-addiction, Tree Plantation and Water Conservation.
• From 22 July 2019, Governor of Gujarat. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, large-scale promotion of natural farming in Gujarat and other states. In Gujarat alone, more than 5 lakh farmers gave up chemical farming and adopted natural farming.
• On 15 September 2025, he took oath as Governor of Maharashtra.
