Awareness on Women’s and Children’s Health through ‘National Nutrition Month’ – Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare
Eighth ‘National Nutrition Month’ to be inaugurated on September 17
Mumbai, Sept 2025 : To improve the health and nutritional status of women and children and to spread awareness, the ‘Nutrition Month’ campaign has been conducted since 2018. This year, the 8th National Nutrition Month will be celebrated across all Anganwadis in the state from September 17 to October 16. The campaign will be inaugurated by Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare on September 17 at 1.00 pm at Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan.
For the 8th ‘National Nutrition Month,’ the central government has identified six major themes: Reducing Obesity, Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) / Nutrition and Education Together, Infant and Young Child Feeding Practices (IYCF), Male Participation, Vocal for Local and Self-Reliance, Convergent Action and Digitization. The booklet “First Golden 1000 Days of a Child” will be released, and appointment letters will be handed over to newly recruited Anganwadi workers and helpers by Minister Aditi Tatkare.
To successfully implement the program, the Nutrition Campaign will be executed through convergence and coordination with departments of Public Health, Education, Water Supply and Sanitation, Rural Development, Urban Development, Tribal Development, and others. It will cover a total of 1,10,629 centers under 553 Child Development Projects in rural, tribal, and urban areas. Under the Integrated Child Development Services Scheme, 25,82,330 children aged 6 months to 3 years, 24,74,417 children aged 3 to 6 years, 4,32,234 pregnant women, and 4,23,756 lactating mothers are benefiting from the scheme.
Maharashtra has consistently ranked among the top three states in the country for its remarkable performance under the Nutrition Campaign over the past seven years. Notably, in 2024, the state secured the first position nationwide. This year as well, the state aims to ensure wide citizen participation through various awareness initiatives, webinars, television programs, and the Jan Andolan Dashboard, reaffirming its commitment to building a Nutritional Maharashtra and a Well-Nourished India.
